The IMPACT Framework is a practical model designed to help professionals build trust, credibility, and influence with senior decision-makers. Rooted in leadership research, psychology, and communication science, the framework consists of six key principles:

Framework

I – Intentional Presence

Show up with purpose and strategic alignment. Demonstrate emotional intelligence and peer-level thinking. Research by Goleman (1998) and Hewlett (2014) emphasizes the importance of self-awareness and executive presence.

M – Map Their Priorities

Understand what matters to your stakeholders—their KPIs, goals, and pain points. Align your message with their strategic concerns. Freeman (1984) and Kotter stress the power of stakeholder alignment in driving change.

P – Position with Data + Story

Combine logic and emotion to make your message credible and memorable. Use metrics for evidence and stories for emotional impact. Heath & Heath (2007) and Kahneman (2011) explain how dual-system thinking influences decisions.

A – Ask for Input (and Listen Actively)

Influence grows when people feel heard. Invite feedback early to foster ownership and trust. Edmondson (1999) and Cialdini (2001) highlight psychological safety and co-creation as key factors in persuasion.

C – Communicate with Clarity and Confidence

Deliver messages clearly and concisely. Use structured, top-down communication, and speak with confidence. Minto (2009) and Duarte (2012) emphasize brevity and audience-focused delivery.

T – Track Trust + Follow Through

Build credibility by managing expectations and following through. Consistency and reliability accelerate trust and influence. Covey (2006) and Kouzes & Posner (2017) affirm trust as central to leadership impact.

Conclusion

The IMPACT Framework bridges insight and action. It equips professionals to present ideas with relevance and clarity, helping them earn trust and lead effectively in complex environments.
